SIERRA CLUB: “SENATOR JAWORSKI WILL HELP CLEAR THE AIR”

Democratic Challenger Earns Enthusiastic Endorsement From Prestigious Conservation Group

(GALVESTON) — The Lone Star Chapter of the prestigious Sierra Club today announced its strong support for State Senate challenger Joe Jaworski in a key race for the future of air quality and common-sense stewardship of the unique environment along Texas’s Gulf Coast.

“Joe has a deep understanding of how positive it can be when a clean natural environment and a strong business climate intersect,” said Ken Kramer, the Sierra Club-Lone Star Chapter director. “That’s exactly the kind of vision and leadership that has too often been shrouded in special-interest smoke at the State Capitol. Senator Jaworski will help clear the air and get Texas moving forward again.”

The Sierra Club was founded in 1892 to protect natural resources and educate successive generations about protecting the earth’s ecosystems. It is one of the nation’s most influential conservation organizations, with hundreds of thousands of members and chapters located across the country.

Jaworski’s comprehensive reform agenda includes measures to:

  • Curb air pollution
  • Promote clean energy
  • Increase investment in smart alternative energy sources
  • Protect the area’s unique natural habitats and wildlife areas
  • Develop commuter rail and other solutions to relieve pollution-causing traffic congestion
  • Implement ethics rules that hold elected officials accountable for public integrity

Jaworski’s public service continues a family tradition that includes his grandfather, respected Watergate prosecutor Leon Jaworski, and his father, Joe, a former partner in the prestigious Houston law firm of Bracewell & Patterson, and founder of the American Leadership Forum and co-founder of the Global Leadership Initiative.

Jaworski serves on the board of directors of the Children’s Center in Galveston and is a member of the University of Texas Medical Branch’s Community Service Excellence Committee. He was appointed to UTMB’s BSL-4 Community Liaison Committee, a group of local leaders charged with strengthening communication between the institution and the community about the university’s infectious disease research program and high-containment laboratories.

Jaworski practices mediation and maritime law and lives in Galveston with his wife, Rebecca, and their two children.
