Experts weigh in on Texas races

We asked four Democratic and four Republican political consultants and insiders about some of this year’s top races. They agreed to discuss individual contests as long as their names were not used. The conventional wisdom below is a compilation of their thoughts.

State Senate seats
• SD 11: State Sen. Mike Jackson, R-LaPorte, is being given a look at possible defeat at the hands of Democrat Joe Jaworski. Jackson has not done a good job of keeping his profile up, and Jaworski may be able to capitalize on a general unhappiness with Republicans this year. Leans Republican.
